ElkFest

One of the most well-known events during Old West Days is the annual Elkfest on May 18, 2024. Each winter, thousands of elk gather at Jackson Hole’s National Elk Refuge, where they shed their antlers come spring. These leftover antlers are then harvested and auctioned at ElkFest, plus there are plenty of interactive competitions and refreshments to enjoy.

Million Dollar Music Fest

Another favorite Old West Days event is the Million Dollar Music Fest, a free concert on Town Square featuring an exciting main performance with several opening acts to enjoy, too.

Town Square Tree Lighting

This holiday event is held right in Jackson Hole’s Town Square on the day after Thanksgiving. The Town Square Tree Lighting is the first official night of the holiday season, with cheerful music, the arrival of Santa Claus, and of course, the illumination of the famous elk antler arches.

Santa on the Square

Santa Claus arrives on Town Square at the annual Tree Lighting, but he sticks around for several weeks throughout December to spread holiday cheer to the families of Jackson Hole. Check out Santa on the Square to meet the man himself, along with Mrs. Claus and the elves.

Torchlight Parades

A special tradition in Jackson Hole is the New Year’s Eve Torchlight Parades at each of the area’s ski resorts. Jackson Hole Mountain Resort, Snow King Mountain, and Grand Targhee each host their own parade, which involve torch-bearing skiiers gliding down the mountain, creating a spectacular light show.
